What is Pol-Ed?
Pol-Ed is a range of education and intervention resources for both schools and Police Forces.
Who is it for?
Pol-Ed is for a Police Force who want to work closely with our partners in education with the purpose of keeping our children safer and also use educational inputs to prevent children from becoming involved in crime.
Who has commissioned it?
Pol-Ed has been commissioned and developed by West Yorkshire Police to support its partnership working strategy and help keep our young people safe. The original Pol-Ed programme was funded by successful bids for money from the Proceeds of Crime fund.
‘Proceeds of crime’ refers to the assets, funds and property gained whilst undertaking criminal activity. Authorities such as The Crown Prosecution Service have the power to confiscate these assets thanks to the Proceeds of Crime Act.
How much will it cost?
The cost of Pol-Ed varies by individual Forces based on the population size of that Force area.
Pol-Ed could be covered through funding from POCA, PCC, Safer Street Fund or various other grants and income streams.

How do we support the delivery of resources?
The Pol-Ed team will be producing some CPD videos for teachers and Officers to support them with delivery of difficult topic areas.
Can resources be downloaded?
The Pol-Ed resources are designed to be delivered ‘on-line’ from the website; this ensures that you are getting the most up to date version of the lesson available. As legislation / education guidance changes, the Pol-Ed team will update any lessons which are affected to keep the content legally correct and relevant.
Can I suggest an input?
The Pol-Ed team are keen to have user input and suggestions for lessons. Please visit our suggestions section where you can make lesson topic suggestions to the Pol-Ed team.
Can I track usage
A Force can track both usage of Pol-Ed education resources by schools for individual lesson usage and groups of lessons usage. They can also track their own Police inputs on their Force Pol-Ed page.

Please make contact with your force administrator who will be able to provide you with your log on details or set you up on Pol-Ed. If your Pol-Ed manager has moved roles and you no longer have access to the Pol-Ed website, please email us at Pol.Ed@westyorkshire.police.uk.
How do I get a Pol-Ed Log in?
If your force is already registered with Pol-Ed, please make contact with your force’s administrator who will be able to set you up on the Pol-Ed site and provide you with a Log in and Password. If your force is not registered with Pol-Ed, please contact us.
Who can use Pol-Ed?
Pol-Ed for schools are resources designed for delivery by teachers only. The other Pol-Ed resources can delivered by Officers or other Police staff.
